Catheter Grooving BDU

Catheter Grooving BDU is an example of Optec design/build complex beam delivery for excimer laser, in this case a catheter grooving system. Four grooves of tapered width 50-20µm are milled at 90° along the entire length of the catheter. The  raw laser beam is split into 4 components, each illuminating from different directions the same slit mask, whose images are projected by Optec design cylindrical doublet optics onto the four sides of the moving catheter. Anamorphic TTL imaging optics give split screen real time view of the machining in progress, in a display where vertical scale is optically stretched 10X to give accurate control over ‘crabbing’.
